A London video & picture show of nature in Komoka, Medway, The Ponds and the Meadowlilly Trail
Our speaker will be John Martineau. For years, he has been shooting still photos of the woods at Komoka Provincial Park and turning them into a collage of seasons as viewed from a single vantage point. He sets the time-lapse vistas - four seasons in five minutes - to music and posts them on YouTube.
His photos became the moving screen projections for critically acclaimed performances of The Magic Flute in Baden Baden, Germany, and Paris, France. In many scenes of the performance, they're not just backdrops to the set, they are the set. The Baden Baden performances featured music from the Berlin Philharmonic under music director Simon Rattle.
John has lived in the London area off and on since 1967, with stints in Toronto, Calgary, Barrie and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and worked as a volunteer teacher in Guyana, SA.
John graduated with honours in Mechanical Engineering from Forsythe Tech in Winston-Salem, NC. He has managed in a variety of sectors, including engineering, manufacturing, hospitality, childcare and retail.
His hobbies include: nature photography, exampled by his talk today, he draws, paints, carves wood and creates videos. He currently works as a job coach/developer with Goodwill Industries in London.
John will present a video and picture show of nature in Komoka, Medway, The Ponds and Meadowlilly Trail here in London.
