A time to focus on Rotary's continuing need for growth, to seek out new members and form new Clubs.

Our next LUNCH meeting is Monday August 28th at the Highland Country Club located at 1922 Highland Heights, London, Ontario. Price of this meeting is $30 per person and it will be a self-serve light buffet. The meeting room will be open from 11:30 AM for fellowship and the buffet will also be available then. So.... please plan on arriving no later than 11:45 AM so that you have time to serve yourself and find a table to sit at. Our business meeting will start at NOON but no later than 12:15 PM. We will endeavor to end the meeting by 1:00 PM. As usual we need you to register for this meeting. The Registration Link will close at 2:00 PM Friday August 25th so that we can advise Highland CC regarding numbers. Please register as soon as possible but be sure to register before 2 PM Friday. After you have registered please arrange to e-transfer your payment to The Rotary Club of London at sronson55@gmail.com. Also be sure to put who you are paying for in your memo section on the e-transfer so that Sandy Ronson can track payments.
Our speaker will be Rotary District Governor Sonja Glass. This will be her official annual visit to our club. Sonja Glass, from our Meaford Club is one in a million. She is educated, experienced and has a desire to help our District grow in membership and to help our Clubs make a real impact in our communities and across the world. Governor Sonja's job is to help Clubs be the best they can be and she brings to the job her multiple degrees and long experience with making the world a better place in her community and across the world as far away as Africa. Sonja and her husband Dave joined the Rotary Club of Meaford in 2016. They had been Friends of Rotary for many years, serving as host parents for 10 Rotary Exchange Students. The couple had been doing medical work with the Canadian African Community Health Alliance and Rotary’s International work aligned with what they had been doing in Tanzania. Sonja has served as Club secretary and as Club president. Dave is the current Club president. Both have worked on several Club committees. They are both multiple Paul Harris Fellows, Paul Harris Society members and Major Donors. Sonja is retired from a nursing career in Health Care which included roles in senior administration, risk management, quality assurance, education and research. She has a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Nursing from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Waterloo. She has served as an accreditor with Accreditation Canada and held volunteer leadership roles with Health Quality Ontario, the Ontario Hospital Association, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Bruce Grey Children’s Aid Society. Sonja has completed all three levels of the Rotary Learning Institute and has joined the teaching team for District 6330. The couple are proud of their two children Simon and Shiona and their two grandchildren Gerrit and Laurel. They live in Meaford with their two dogs. “Plant a Seed” is Sonja’s theme for her governor year. She is looking forward to talking with you about growing Rotary, planning your futures and measuring the work that we do to do good in the world.

TVCC presents Under the StarsBackground Under the Stars will be an outdoor movie event in support of TVCC and vital services. The event will take place outdoors at London International Airport and include various family-friendly activities with a carnival-like theme. The evening will end with a screening of a feature film to be enjoyed by all who attend. The inaugural Under the Stars event on September 22, 2023, will support TVCC in helping children and youth with disabilities participate anywhere they are. Objectives: 1. To raise funds for TVCC ($60,000+) 2. Attract 16 + new sponsors and partners (approx. $70,000) 3. Attract in-kind partners and preferred vendors / auction partners 4. Attract 250 vehicle (average 3 per car / 750 people) 5. Attract mix of families 6. Attract local business. 7. Build awareness about TVCC 8. Create two levels of spots VIP / GA.
