--SEPTEMBER IS BASIC EDUCATIONS & LITERACY MONTH--
September is Basic Education & Literacy Month, a time for Rotarians to reflect on the pandemic's impact on education and literacy. As one of Rotary's seven Areas of Focus, we recognize that literacy is key to participating fully in society and leading a meaningful life. It opens doors to better jobs, healthier families, and improved well-being. The Basic Education and Literacy Rotary Action Group (BELRAG) helps Rotarians tackle these challenges, supporting efforts to ensure children become confident readers and learners.
Here is the NEAR TERM meeting schedule; Oct 7th, Oct 21st & Nov 11th.

Allison DeBlaire is the Executive Director of 519Pursuit, a charity here in London, supporting individuals facing homelessness and extreme poverty. While working at a downtown bar, she listened to the stories of Londoners experiencing homelessness, sparking her determination to make a difference. She founded the grassroots not-for-profit 519Pursuit in 2017, delivering outreach and support to people living in extreme poverty using a friendship-based and empathy-driven approach. As a community connector, Allison develops strong partnerships with agencies and businesses to create meal programs and clothing drives, after which 519Pursuit meets ‘friends’ on the street where they share supplies. Her personal mentorship has helped many women transform their lives. Allison believes all people have the potential to overcome challenges, and her inspirational efforts change perspectives on how we see people who are homeless in our communities.
We’re excited to share the upcoming Cocktails and Classics fundraiser on September 28, 2024, in support of the Aeolian El Sistema program. We’d greatly appreciate your help in promoting this event to your club members.
This elegant evening will feature live music, dancing, and a chance to support a life-changing music education program for underprivileged children. Your club's involvement would mean a lot, and we hope you’ll spread the word.
You can buy tickets from me, at (519) 671-2764 or from the Aeolian Hall box office, at (519) 672-7950.
