Our next LUNCH meeting is Monday August 14th  at the Highland Country Club located at 1922 Highland Heights, London, Ontario. Price of this meeting is $30 per person and it will be a self-serve light buffet. The meeting room will be open from 11:30 AM for fellowship and the buffet will also be available then. So.... please plan on arriving no later than 11:45 AM so that you have time to serve yourself and find a table to sit at. Our business meeting will start at NOON but no later than 12:15 PM.  We will endeavor to end the meeting by 1:00 PM. As usual we need you to register for this meeting. The Registration Link will close at 2:00 PM Friday August 11th so that we can advise Highland CC regarding numbers. Please register as soon as possible but be sure to register before 2 PM Friday. Our guest speaker will be Dr Gordon McBean. Gordon McBean PhD was appointed in 2000 as a Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment, Western University and with the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction.  He became Professor Emeritus in 2015. He was lead author for the Knowledge Synthesis Report – Building Climate Resilient Communities and the Keynote Speaker on:  Climate Change - Call for Action for All at the Rotary Club of Ontario, District 7070 October 2022 Conference and meetings submitting a proposal for SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant (with Rotary) on Building Climate Resilient Communities -- Community and Household Actions.   As the Assistant Deputy Minister (1994-2000), Environment Canada, he was responsible for weather, climate and air quality sciences and services, including advising Ministers for Kyoto Protocol and related issues. Gordon has been very active in international scientific programs, including being President of the International Council for Science (2014-18) and Co-Chair of the Governing Council (2015-18) of the Future Earth Program. Most recently, he was awarded the 2023 American Meteorological Society, Warren Washington Research and Leadership Medal. Gordon will talk about his collaboration with Rotary and their proposal for a Partnership Engage Grant for “Building Climate Resilient Communities -- Community and Household Actions”
