Our guest speaker on February 1st will be John Barratt.
Born in Gander Newfoundland, John’s education included the University of Prince Edward Island, Dalhousie, Holland College, Banff School of Fine Arts and the National Coaching Certification Program. In 1977, John’s musical career saw three years as Principal Trumpet with the Newfoundland Symphony then several years in a senior administrative role with the Toronto and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestras. Returning to PEI in 1984, John was involved in numerous business activities. In April of 1997, one of his businesses, Afton Lea Farms, was sold to Vesey’s Seeds Ltd. at which time he entered full time employment with Vesey's Seeds as Director of Sales, Marketing & Development. Additionally he has served as General Manager of a Vesey’s Seeds US subsidiary located in Hartford, Michigan. Always active in his community, John has participated on a wide variety of Boards and committees including the PEI Symphony, PEI Humane Society, Special Olympics, Zion Presbyterian Church and Charlotttetown Airport Authority Advisory Committee. John is a Charter Member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty and currently serves as Clerk of Session Zion Church, Chair of the Zion Church Administrative Committee, Business Convenor of General Assembly, and special advisor to the Board of Special Olympics PEI. He is the originator and Chair of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royaty’s annual Advertising Supplement which has raised over three million dollars for the Club since its inception and recently oversaw a multi District project involving the Rotary Tulip which resulted in a $155,000 US contribution to Polio Plus. In his spare time he enjoys motorcycle riding, kayaking, wilderness exploration and is an avid Formula One race fan. John is married to the former Faye Rogerson whois a professional pianist.

The Interact Club of London is selling Cookie Mix in a jar, the cost is $12 for the cookie jar and $10 for hot chocolate. The money will go to a local charity that supports women and children.
