--Thank you letter from Xmas Kettle volunteers--
January 18, 2023--- Jim Swan-- Rotary Club of Downtown London
Dear Jim,
On behalf of The Salvation Army, I would like to sincerely thank you for your wonderful support of the 2022 Christmas Kettle Campaign. With the dedication and support from you and Rotary Club of Downtown London, we were able to provide 4,200+ Christmas food hampers to local families and 6,700+ bags of toys were distributed to children in need. The funds that are raised at the kettles help make a difference to the thousands of families and individuals in our community that look to us for help during Christmas and throughout the year. I am very excited to share with you that we exceeded our goal of $550,000, reaching a grand total of $583,244.00! We could not have done this without your help! Our calculations indicate that $3,036.95 was raised at the kettle location that was managed by your volunteer group over the course of the kettle campaign. Amazing!! I am incredibly grateful for all your hard work and commitment to supporting The Salvation Army and I’m looking forward to working with you again this year. Thank you once again for helping us help others! Sincerely, Jodie Yule, Community Relations Coordinator. London Christmas Kettle Campaign Team
--Message from Victorian's Quilt's Canada--
I am writing on behalf of a volunteer group called Victoria's Quilts Canada, London Branch. Victoria's Quilts Canada (VQC) is a national non-profit charitable organization with headquarters in Ottawa and 25 branches across Canada, including London. Our organization is run completely by volunteers. We have no paid staff. Our mission is to provide handmade quilts to Canadians living with cancer and provide physical and spiritual comfort to people undergoing cancer treatment. The quilts are a gift and there is no cost to the requester or the recipient. All requests are made to our headquarters in Ottawa and directed to the appropriate branch. Since VQC was established in 1999, over 70,000 quilts have been delivered to cancer patients across Canada. Each quilt is made by our dedicated volunteer quilters. During the pandemic, we continued to provide quilts as our quilters worked from their homes. Volunteers who delivered the quilts followed all safety protocols. Our goal is to provide 200 quilts to people facing the challenge of cancer treatment in London and surrounding areas. We are fundraising so that we can purchase quilting materials including 100% cotton fabric, flannel for backing, batting and thread. The cost to make one quilt today is about $80.00. In addition to this cost, some quilts for people in the region are mailed at a cost of $19.38 each. The demand for quilts is increasing, along with the costs to produce them so support from the community is crucial. We are hoping that the London North Rotary Club will be able to help us support cancer patients in London and the region. We are registered with the Canada Revenue Agency and provide receipts for all donations. If you would like additional information about our organization, please contact me at the email address below. We would be pleased to make a presentation at a meeting of your Board and answer any questions you may have about Victoria's Quilts Canada. Thank you for your consideration.
