Our next LUNCH meeting is Monday January 22nd at the Highland Country Club located at 1922 Highland Heights, London, Ontario. Price of this meeting is $30 per person. The meeting room will be open from 11:30 AM for fellowship. So.... please plan on arriving no later than 11:45 AM so that you have time to serve yourself and find a table to sit at. Our business meeting will start at NOON but no later than 12:15 PM. We will endeavor to end the meeting by 1:00 PM. As usual we need you to register for this meeting. The Registration Link will close at 2:00 PM Friday Jan 19th so that we can advise Highland CC regarding numbers. Please register as soon as possible but be sure to register before 2 PM Friday. After you have registered please arrange to e-transfer your payment to The Rotary Club of London at sronson55@gmail.com. Also be sure to put who you are paying for in your memo section on the e-transfer so that Sandy Ronson can track payments.
Our guest speaker will be Betsy Reilly. Betsy is a co-founder and Community champion for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of London, Ontario – a partnership between the London Community Foundation and the Dollywood Foundation of Canada. She is an adjunct professor in the Teacher Education program and the Advanced Studies in Professional Education program at Western University. Her area of specialization is in literacy development at the elementary school level. Her work with Teacher Candidates builds on her 32 years of teaching with the Thames Valley District School Board. In her years of teaching, she recognized the power of books in the home and the effect of parents reading to children in the early years. She formed the London affiliate of Imagination Library through a partnership between the London Community Foundation.

Jim Swan's name has been added to the Honorable Ray Lawson Rotarian of the Year plaque for for the 2022-23 year of the Club. Presentation made by past president Rick Coates.
--OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER IN THE NEW YEAR--
Western Rotaract Day of Giving will happen on Saturday, January 20th, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Rotarians volunteer drivers are needed & will be responsible for driving Rotaract Club members to the clients' homes. Although not mandatory, Rotarians may bring tools (e.g., toolkit, ladder) and help with the tasks. Rotarians can expect to drive Rotaract Club members to 1-2 clients' homes, each assignment should take about an hour. Clients are informed of the time limit prior; however, at Rotarian's/Rotaract Club members discretion, they can stay longer than an hour. We will provide personal protection equipment (PPE) such as masks and gloves for everyone's safety. We have yet to decide on the location for the event. However, we plan to be near Western University with accessible parking. We will inform you as soon as we have determined the site. Here is the spreadsheet for Rotarians sign-up:
Georgie Street learned that she is heading to France from Randy Harden. Georgie was thrilled and both mom and dad shed a few tears. Very proud of their daughter.
