--FOREST CITY LONDON MUSIC AWARDS HONORS RCL MEMBER--
We are pleased to announce that Rotarian Ian Davies has just been recognized by the Forest City London Music Awards as Volunteer of the Year for his continuing work on the Ken Palmer Music Bursary program for graduating London & Area high school music students which he founded in 2014. This important Bursary program provides commitment and encouragement annually to two students to help support their post-secondary music education goals with a $1000 cash award. The bursary honours the work of late Ken Palmer (Oct. 5, 1948 - Oct. 30, 2013) who was an integral part of the London music scene for more than 40 years as a performer with the Dixie Flyers (FCLMA Hall of Fame), Artistic Director of Home County Music & Art Festival (15 years), and as a music teacher/mentor to young musicians. Since 2016, there have been ten $1000 bursaries awarded to London & area students including this year's winners Angela Metron (Catholic Central) and Kate McLeod (Woodstock Collegiate Institute). The FCLMA and the Ken Palmer Music Bursary jury congratulates these outstanding young students and hopes this award will help them with their scholastic goals in music. The bursary program is supported completely by individual donations.
