Dr. Bonnie Simpson is a consumer researcher – aiming to make the world a little bit better of a place through an understanding of why consumers act as we do. She asks why consumers engage in positive actions such as sustainable behaviours, charitable giving, mitigating food waste, and purchasing that supports social good, but asks why we say no to a $2 donation at the grocery checkout when we can afford to give? Bonnie is a Professor with DAN Department of Management and Organizational Studies, Western University, where she teaches consumer behaviour and marketing research courses. She was a contributor to a feature article on food waste in the April 25 th issue of Rotary Magazine. She holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of Calgary, Master in Human Kinetics from University of Windsor, and Bachelor in Sport Management from Brock University. Bonnie has taught and presented research in countries many around the world – such as Finland, the Netherlands, Austria, and Romania. Her research is published in top journals in the consumer behaviour field such as Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Research.

--WESTERN ROTARACT'S COFFEE CHAT--
London R/C members and Western Rotaracts get together to have a coffee chat. This coffee chat was an exciting event where members from various Rotary clubs come together to chat, network, and get to know one another! Attendees included Rotarians, Interactors, exchange students, and more (meaning there were people of all ages and experiences having a great mingling experience).
--CLUB MEMBERS & FRIENDS AT THE FOOD BANK--
Service doesn’t have an age limit. Five Rotarians. Five Rotaractors. One Westminster Wildbot. One shared commitment to community. Members of the Rotary Club of London were joined this month by students from Rotaract Western (Western University), Rotaract Fanshawe (Fanshawe College) as well as one member of the Westminster Wildbots for our regular volunteer night at the London Food Bank. Month after month, we roll up our sleeves together — sorting, organizing, and helping prepare food for distribution across our city.
--519PURSUIT PLANNING A FUNDRAISER--
NOTE FROM E.D.--I wanted to reach out to you today and share the exciting information about our first ever charity dinner event at 519Pursuit. We are sending out information to our valued community partners and supporters prior to the event going public because the tickets are limited. I wanted to see if you would consider sharing this information with the Rotary Club and consider purchasing a table (of 8). The Rotary Club has been a huge support for 519Pursuit and I would love to have many familiar faces in the room that evening as we host our first ever charity dinner.
I have had a wonderful (and exhausting) three days visiting Rotary International projects supported by my District (6330) in Guatemala around Lake Atitlán. So much need here but progress is being made! Cleaner water, improved agricultural and environmental practices, women empowered to become entrepreneurs and community leaders, better education for children and skills training for adults. Lives here can be very hard. Thanks to Rotary and Rotarians we can help.
What an incredible gift for the New Year. A photo of the 1st of 3 washrooms finished in time for the new school year at Mugoiri Secondary School, Maranga County, Kenya. Asante Sana (thank you) to all those who contributed in money, labor or just love in giving those in need, a little step up the ladder.
