--YOUTH EXCHANGE--
The Club has received the attached note from Georgie Street our YE outbound in France. Our district works hard to prepare our outbound students before their departure. We try to select mature candidates and provide them training to elevate their emotional intelligence. This note shows that Georgie has what it takes to make her year in France a success. Regards, Randy

Bonjour de France! It’s crazy that a month has already gone by! I want to start off by saying that everything is going great! I have been able to travel, I go to a great school, I have made friends, I have gone to rotary events, and I am currently in a great host family. Sadly, my exchange did not start off so great. When I first arrived, my host family seemed odd; they were very uninterested, and it felt like they did not want me there. Since they volunteered to take me and were a first-time host family, I assumed it was all in my head and I was just nervous about being there. I always offered to help, always tried to join them in whatever activities they were doing, and I spent time with my host siblings. Unfortunately, I got sick, then the family told me they were too busy, and I was too difficult. I had to pack my things and go to a new family the next day. Thankfully, the new host family is amazing! I have no complaints and the whole exchange has become way better now that I am here. The new family has taken me to rotary events, markets, a HUGE family party, and trips to Reims and Paris; they always include me in whatever they are doing. I am very lucky to be with them. It has been awesome! I couldn’t be happier with my new host family. School has been going well, and I have made many friends who are all extremely helpful (especially when it comes to finding my classes on campus). Some classes I can understand, others I couldn’t barley tell that they were speaking French, but I try my best in all of them and I do what I can. The school system is VERY different here; some classes are longer than others, some classes go every other week, if a teacher is absent, you get the period free, and Wednesday is a half day. The system isn’t better or worse than Canada, but it’s way different. I often can’t keep up, but my friends are always there to help. Georgie Street :D
