Our next LUNCH meeting is Monday May 13th at the Highland Country Club located at 1922 Highland Heights, London, Ontario. Price of this meeting is $30 per person. The meeting room will be open from 11:30 AM for fellowship. So.... please plan on arriving no later than 11:45 AM so that you have time to serve yourself and find a table to sit at. Our business meeting will start at NOON but no later than 12:15 PM. We will endeavor to end the meeting by 1:00 PM. As usual we need you to register for this meeting. The Registration Link will close at 2:00 PM Friday May 10th so that we can advise Highland CC regarding numbers. Please register as soon as possible but be sure to register before 2 PM Friday. After you have registered please arrange to e-transfer your payment to The Rotary Club of London at sronson55@gmail.com. Also be sure to put who you are paying for in your memo section on the e-transfer so that Sandy Ronson can track payments. Our speaker will be Marisa Thorburn. Marisa has been involved with Save a Family Plan (SAFP) for over 35 years, originally as a donor and volunteer, and, since 2018, as Executive Director. She graduated with a Social Sciences Degree from the University of Guelph, choosing to major in International Development after her life-changing experience of travelling to India to meet her SAFP partner family in India. With a passion for social justice, Marisa worked for 10 years in Community Mental Health and for 15 years as a trauma specialist for the Victim Services Crisis Unit of the London Police Service, and she volunteered as a member of the Board of Directors with both LUSO Community Services here in London. In addition to overseeing the fundraising activities of SAFP in Canada, Marisa also spends 5-6 weeks in India annually, where she visits the programs and participants of SAFP and working interdependently with the SAFP India team on project planning, program implementation, and strategic planning.

--MEET OUR NEW INCOMING EXCHANGE STUDENT SHO FUJIMOTO--
Sho will be our next Rotary Youth Exchange Inbound Student. He will arrive in August 2024. Sho is from Yamaguchi, Japan. Yamaguchi is within the Yamaguchi Prefecture in the southwest part of Honshu, Japan’s largest and most populated island. He is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Yamaguchi in District 2710. This will be his first trip out of Japan. We look forward to welcoming Sho to London.
--ADVENTURE IN CITIZENSHIP PROGRAMME--
Every year the Rotary Club of London sponsors a student for the Adventure in Citizenship program hosted by the Rotary Club of Ottawa in May. This year our candidate is Eeshal Salman. Eeshal is a highly motivated student currently attending H B Beal Secondary School. She volunteers in her community and with youth groups. She is part of the student council, the student senate, and student equality and inclusion committee, striving to advocate for students. Upon graduation Eeshal plans to apply to law school after completing undergraduate studies. She is set on being a prosecutor in the criminal court system.
