May 2025 Rotary Club of London-Local Community Services provides $25,000.00 to build and furnish a “Temporary Family Shelter” to be used to house future families while they await their new home to be constructed.

Oneida Nation of the Thames and the Imagine Build committee are committed to help residents of Oneida and the Imagine Build committee to build affordable new homes in Oneida. Currently they have completed 4 new homes and the fifth home is under construction.  The Imagine Build committee have an Application Process to select the family that will “purchase” the home, based on family structure, current living conditions including special needs or accessibility, affordability, and references. The selection of the family is the responsibility of the Imagine Build Team Representatives and the Oneida Nation of the Thames. The family selected for House number 5 is TJ and his 3 children TJ’s current living conditions are not appropriate and along with the London Construction Association and Fanshaw College, they have built a “Temporary Family Shelter”. The Temporary Family Shelter started as three Andy Spriet inspired small shelters that morphed into one combined unit. The effort started during the Level! Up! Career Fair and is being completed by Fanshaw College students. This unit includes a kitchen, dining space, bathroom, bedroom and second sleeping area a murphy bed. It will have full electrical, water, sanitary service including hot water heater, refrigerator, induction cooktop, exhaust fans and microwave oven. The shelter is temporarily located on the lot where the House Number 5 is being constructed. Utilities including water and septic systems being installed for Home #5 will be temporary.  When home # 5 is occupied, the temporary home will be relocated to the next Imagine Build Home for use by the next family that will be moving into their new home when finished.
